Text message links: how do I open the link in the text message you sent me?
On some phone models, you can select the URL in the message to automatically open your WAP browser to that page. In other phones, you will need to open the Options menu, and find a command to open the web address.
For example, on Nokia Series 60 phones, while viewing the text message, go to the Options menu, and select Find | Web address. This transforms the URL into a link that can now be clicked. Select the link, and then click "Go to web address."
Download problem: I'm having trouble connecting to your WAP site to download the software. What can I do?
If the WAP download page doesn't open, check to see if you can access any other WAP sites, e.g. try accessing http://www.google.com.
If you can't access any WAP sites on your phone, then there might be faults on your network or your WAP browser settings might be incorrectly configured. Check your WAP browser connection settings and try again later. If the problem persists, contact your carrier for assistance.
If you can access other WAP sites, but still cannot open our WAP download page, contact us for further assistance.
Security exception: I get a security exception when I try to install Swirl Connect. What can I do?
Different Swirl builds are digitally signed and certified in different ways: some are signed with a Verisign certificate, some with a Thawte certificate, and some are unsigned. This signature is for your protection, and lets you know that the software you are downloading does indeed come from Swirl, and that our identity has been verified by a trusted third party. It also allows the software to operate without continual security prompts that you're required to approve.
In order for that signature to work, however, your phone needs the corresponding certificate installed. Many phones have these certificate, but some do not. If your phone does not have a matching certificate and you try to install a signed application, your phone will warn you of a "security exception." In most cases we're aware of the missing certificate, and we offer an unsigned build, but it's a rocky landscape and we're not perfect.
Text message link : I received the download link in a text message; now what do I do?
- Once you receive the text message on your mobile phone, open it, and click the link inside to open the Swirl download WAP site.
- Click the "Download Swirl" link to start the download. It should take under a minute to complete the download.
- When prompted, select "Install," and then click "Yes" or "Okay" at any security or message prompts.
- Some phones will ask you to select a storage location (choose "Applications"). Others will choose the location (usually Applications or Games) for you.
WAP Downloads: How do I use my phone's browser to install Swirl?
- Go to My Preferences | My Account | Upgrade My Software and expand the "I'd prefer to use my WAP browser" section. Write down the the address written in this section.
- Open your phone's WAP browser (not a third-party browser like Opera Mini), and enter the address from step 1. Your download should start within a few seconds, and should be completed in under a minute.
- When prompted, select "Install," and then click "Yes" or "Okay" at any security or message prompts.
- Some phones will ask you to select a storage location (choose "Applications"). Others will choose the location (usually Applications or Games) for you.
Wrong phone : I entered the wrong phone model during sign-up; how do I download the right software?
There are two things you'll probably want to do: download the right software and update your account information.
Download the right software:
- Open your phone's WAP browser (not a third-party browser like Opera Mini), and enter the address http://iswirl.com/get/d.
- We'll attempt to show you some matching phone models. If more than one is listed, choose the best option for your phone. It should take under a minute to complete the download.
- When prompted, select "Install," and then click "Yes" or "Okay" at any security or message prompts.
- Some phones will ask you to select a storage location (choose "Applications"). Others will choose the location (usually Applications or Games) for you.
Update your account information:
In My Swirl, go to My Preferences | My Account, and select the correct phone model. Hint: you can use our WAP site (http://iswirl.com/get/d) to auto-detect your phone model if you're not sure what it is. Once updated, you can use the Upgrade Software page to download and install the correct version, or just follow the steps directly above.
Bluetooth install: Can I download the software to my PC and install from there?

- Go to My Preferences | My Account | Upgrade My Software and expand the "I'd prefer to transfer" section.
- The files that are required for the installation will be available for download here.
- Start bluetooth on your phone and PC.
- Select the files to transfer, and select "Send To | Bluetooth | Your-phone-name.
- Consult your phone's manual for the exact transfer procedure.
Memory card/memory stick install: Can I download the software to my PC and install from there?

Note: in most cases, this is not the recommended transfer option. Most phones don't handle installation from memory cards in a robust manner. Certificates might not be transferred, permissions might not be applied, specific values might not be set. USB and Bluetooth are preferred transfer options.
- Go to My Preferences | My Account | Upgrade My Software and expand the "I'd prefer to transfer" section.
- The files that are required for the installation will be available for download here.
- Plug your memory card into your card adapter/reader, and plug into your PC.
- Move the files to the memory card's "Applications," "Other," or "Games" folder (in that preference order).
- Place the memory card back in your phone.
- Install according to the installation procedure for your phone. Try browsing to the file, selecting it, and then look for appropriate menu options ("Install," "Move to phone," etc.).
USB/Cable install: Can I download the software to my PC and install from there?

- Connect your phone to your PC.
- Select your phone within the file management application.
- Select the files to be transferred, and move them to your phone according to your software's specific instructions.
