There are two pieces to Swirl: an online control panel called My Swirl; and the mobile social software that installs on your phone, called Swirl Connect. Swirl Connect is a crossover application—it can be used to connect both web and mobile users in real time. Although each part of Swirl can be used in isolation, they are intended to be used together. So even if your phone doesn't support Swirl Connect, you can still stay connected with friends with My Swirl.

Finding Places with My Swirl Map View

We'll show you nearby placemarks on a map of your surrounding area (1). Placemarks are places of interest than can have shared photos and notes posted to them. The more placemarks there are, the narrower the map focus becomes, but all will be centered around your current location. You can check out popularity statistics for each place (2), and filter what is shown to you (3). Placemarks can be added via My Swirl (4) or Swirl Connect. View our coverage map

Finding Places with My Swirl List View

The list view presents the same placemark and filter options, but gives you the ability to filter and sort (2) what is shown to you. Places with current visitors (3) are easier to find using list view.

Viewing Place Details on My Swirl

You can find detailed information about each placemark, including general geographic information and popularity statistics (1). Because some places can't be geocoded, placemark owners can manually geocode a placemark by placing a pushpin in a map (2). All of the photos taken at the place are displayed in a photo album (3), and you can easily add your own photos and notes via My Swirl (4) or Swirl Connect. Any current visitors or past visitors will be visible here (5), and you have the option of finding other nearby places of interest (6).
