When you choose to connect with someone in proximity, you can fetch their photo, profile, and guestbook. Regardless of whether you make an active connection, the proximity is logged, and is saved to My Swirl on your next synchronization. Activity of this sort helps improve your overall Swirl ranking and might lead to the accumulation of Swirl badges, which will show up in your profile once earned. During an active connection, you can chat as you would in an instant messenger, send vibrations to other person's phone, and send sounds.
